Chaniya Choli Shopping for Navratri at Law Garden, Ahmedabad

Navrati, the most awaited nine days of festivity, fun and frolic is here. So, your search for those glittering chaniya choli is at its peak, right? What if we tell you that we have done the research and most importantly the bargain part. We recently visited the famous Law Garden night market in Ahmedabad. It is famous for the authentic Gujrati chaniya cholis. Be it mirror work chaniya choli designs, plain chaniya choli designs, silk chaniya choli, cotton chaniya choli and even the ones with quirky prints on it, you get them all.

The market has some 60 stalls and majority of them have heaps of beautiful chaniya choli. Other stalls comprise silver earrings, neck pieces, colourful dupattas, hangbags, sling bags, wallets, bed sheets, kurtis, cushion covers and much more. All these in beautiful hues with intricate embroidery and mirror work on it. Bliss. Isn’t’ it?

The prices are as cheap as two Iced White Chocolate Mocha from Starbucks. Yes, you heard that right, the sellers might quote Rs 1000 and even 2000 for a set but you can come down to as low as Rs 600 to 700. I even overheard a bargain at as low as Rs 495. You wouldn’t mind investing in a trip to Ahmedabad for such chaniya cholis and that too at these prices.

They have unending strings of earrings and necklaces, the glitter that is necessary to dazzle the dance floor on Navratri. The jhumkas with mirrors, with colourful pom poms, ghungroos at any given length. You name it, they have it.

The bedsheets too are a treat to the eyes. They have beautiful bedsheets with heavy embroidery and some even have mirrors on it. Crafted carefully, showcasing the beauty of Indian Art, the bedsheets will surely add a royal touch to your bedrooms. Bedsheets are a hard bargain as a lot of effort goes in but if they ask Rs 2000 you must start your bargain price at Rs 1000. Yes, it is that cheap.

The kurtis here are pretty cheap and the material is nothing less than that of a brand. Though the collection is not that unique and can be found anywhere, the price is something that you would want to look forward to.

There are bags that speak volumes about ethnicity. Beautiful hues with striking embroidery, mirror work on it, some even have poms poms and tassels that add a unique touch to your appearance. Suitable for work place or for shopping, the handbags here are as cheap as Rs 250. Don’t fall for their theory behind the high rates because you know the exact bargain.

The dupattas..my favourite item of clothing, are so colourful and shimmery. I bet you can’t resist yourself at buying these bandhni, lehriya and zari bordered duppattas. The price? Only Rs 200. Yes, the prices that they or any online portal would quote would start from Rs 650 but here you can get it just for Rs 200.

Though these prices are very recent but as soon the festive season begins after Rakhi, the prices are going to get soaring high.

You might also be turned down rudely by the shopkeepers as they know that there will be another customer if not you. Don’t worry try your luck at the next stall.
