Yash & Benaisha Mussoorie : Anita Dongre’s son Yash and Benaisha’s gorgeous Mussoorie wedding is the talk of the town!

When we stumbled upon the news of Anita Dongre’s son Yash Dongre’s marriage to his sweetheart Benaisha Kharas, we knew we were looking forward to pictures of a spectacular wedding. And they left no stone unturned to surprise us with their humility and great taste in both couture and decor! But did you know that these two love birds have a very cute love story to flaunt!? Read to know more.

The Love Story

Benaisha and Yash met via their SAT tutor and common friends in 2008. They were formally introduced to each other on a conference call. Yash was a shy kid who was already smitten by Benaisha. She wished him on his birthday via Facebook which marked the beginning of a  new friendship. They talked about everything under the sun until 5am everyday! 2 weeks later Yash called her and confessed his love. She felt the same and they soon began dating. What followed was a whirlwind of a romance! Benaisha says, “We can only describe our love story as a roller coaster ride. We’ve had our fair share of ups and downs, but have always been around for each other. It’s our friendship that kept us going through it all.”

The Wedding Festivities..

The couple first signed the papers at Benaisha’s residence on 25th February. Later, they hosted a full fledged wedding saga for 3 days in Mussoorie.

The Decor..

We were drooling over the decor that they followed throughout the wedding. When we asked Benaisha about it, she said, “Yash and I have a similar aesthetic and he trusted my choices completely. My mother-in-law took great interest in planning the décor with me, to help bring our vision to life. All the events had a rustic vibe to them. We kept the lights warm and inviting. Every function was planned with the utmost precision and was very close to my heart. Both of us and our families feel truly blessed that our wedding was more than picture perfect!”

Benaisha took inspiration from Anita Dongre’s show at LFW’18 and her Coorg shoot. Spring vibes, beautifully decorated benches, flora and fauna were incorporated in the decor.

The Carnival Themed Brunch..

The Dongres and the Kharas’ welcomed their guests with a carnival themed brunch at The Savoy. The English styled country hotel played the perfect host for their brunch. The couple chose to make SEWA a part of the festivities and wore embroidered blue and white twinning outfits. SEWA (Self-employed Women’s Association) is an organization in Gujarat which inspired the origins of Anita Dongre Grass Root. The women of SEWA rallied to create the meticulously embroidered twinning outfits for Benaisha and Yash.

The Sangeet Ceremony..

For the sangeet ceremony Benaisha wore an emerald green embellished with intricate hand printed pichwai work while Yash wore a beige sherwani with nature motifs. Yash says he has two left feet but you can spot him shaking a leg and having utmost fun with his lady love!

The Wedding..

Almost every element of  their wedding broke the internet. When we first saw their mandap picture, we thought it was in Switzerland. That was till  our eyes landed on the caption.. We were flabbergasted to know that the beautiful location was Mussoorie! Nestled in the lap of snow clad mountains, the mandap was decorated with flowers and had accents of pink and white. Benaisha Kharas made for a beautiful bride in a hand crafted

gota patti lehenga. Her favourite quote “When I saw you I fell in love, and you smiled because you knew” was embroidered into the dupatta! Yash Dongre wore a mint green sherwani and complemented his attire with a pink safa. The entourage’s ensemble was designed by none other than Anita Dongre!

The Mumbai Functions..

Yash and Benaisha threw two receptions for their friends a week after they wrapped up all the celebrations in Mussoorie. A cocktail party was held at Blue Sea in Mumbai. Probably the name of the venue inspired the couple as they were seen in coordinated ink blue outfits for the same. Benaisha’s ink blue gown with intricate pichwai work was complemented by Yash’s classic sherwani. The traditional craftwork on the bride’s gown was designed in deliberate contrast to its western silhouette.

The next day they hosted an elaborate dinner at Seth Jeejeebhoy Dadabhoy Agiary. It was a traditional Parsi Agiary in order to honour their different cultures. Benaisha donned a soft peach lehenga which was embellished in Parsi gara motif that showcased embroidered birds that harmonised with the threadwork of Yash’s sherwani.
