10 Remedies using Household Ingredients to maintain that Bridal Glow!

If you are a bride-to-be, no one knows the importance of glowing, flawless skin as much as you do!

The wedding season is here and with so many girls ready to tie the knot, I thought it’s best if I could remind you of a few home ingredients that are lying in your kitchen at this very moment, which you could start using to get or maintain your bridal glow.

Amidst hectic schedules, wedding planning and shaadi stress, you are bound to ignore your skin care and focus on other elements. Getting glowing skin is not a tedious, time consuming or costly affair. All you need is a few minutes to spare, a couple of household ingredients and you are ready to go.

Here’s me listing a few ingredients and ways to use them for better results, which will compel you to make a dash into the kitchen (after reading the blog):

1. Coconut oil

Why is it beneficial: Coconut is very light in texture and it gets absorbed extremely well by the pores, leaving almost no greasy residue. It contains saturated fats, which act as a great moisturizer for the skin and prevents moisture loss to a great extent.

How to use: Firstly, you could warm up the coconut oil a little. Then, take it in a small proportion in your fingers and start applying it in a clockwise direction. It’s best if left on your face and neck overnight, for the pores to absorb maximum moisture!

2. Honey

Why is it beneficial: Honey is an excellent antibacterial ingredient, which you can easily find in your kitchen at most times. It is known to be an emollient, which means it allows the pores to retain maximum moisture in the skin. You could also use it to get rid of pigmentation and light scars.

How to use: It is best to apply honey in thick layers over your face and neck. Massage it lightly for 5-7 minutes and then wash it off with warm water.

3. Green tea

Why is it beneficial: Green tea helps in getting rid of impurities of the skin and helps in increasing the glow of your skin. If applied regularly, it helps nourishing your skin and keeping it hydrated.

How to use: Begin the process by boiling some green tea leaves in a pan. Once the water gets cooled down, mix it with cream and brown sugar. Apply the mixture and keep it on your face for a couple of minutes. Then wash it off with lukewarm water and dry your face with a towel.

4. Rose water

Why is it beneficial: This ingredient, is usually underrated, but has more benefits than we know. For starters, it curbs acne and pimples and helps in maintaining even tone of the skin. Applying this could help in getting rid of puffiness under the eyes and keeping your skin well-hydrated at all times. You could also apply it to get rid of rashes and sunburns.

How to use: For optimum utilization and results you will require- 3tbsp pure rose water, 1tbsp glycerin and 1tbsp cold-pressed coconut oil. You can then combine all these ingredients together in a bottle or container and then shake them well. Apply this for more nourished and moisturized skin.

5. Papaya

Why is it beneficial: Papaya is known to contain an enzyme which helps in getting rid of dead cells in the skin. It helps in removing acne and maintaining the moisture levels in the skin. If you are looking out for an ingredient which will help in reducing blemishes, then this should be your pick!

How to use: You could take a few pieces of papaya, 1tsp of honey and a bit of sandalwood and mix it up really well, till it becomes a paste. Keep it on your face for 10-12 minutes and then wash it off.

6. Aloe Vera

Why is it beneficial: Aloe vera has an array of benefits for your skin. I am not surprised that almost all beauty and skin products make use of it. It is an excellent antioxidant, keeps the skin firm, moisturizes it well and helps in getting rid of pigmentation.

How to use: You could take a small amount of aloe vera gel, mixed with a pinch of turmeric and a bit of milk and honey and mix it well. Apply this mixture and keep it on your face for 10 minutes. You could then wash it off with lukewarm water and don’t forget to dry your face with a clean towel.

7. Bitter Gourd Juice (Karela juice)

Why is it beneficial: Want a fantastic glow on your face? Then this is the best ingredient you should consider. Rich in antioxidants, Vitamin A and Vitamin C, this can also prevent skin ageing and wrinkles.

How to use: Having a few tablespoons of karela juice could help maintain your bridal glow, so it’s best to infuse it into your daily routine for better results.

8. Cucumber

Why is it beneficial: Cucumber is known for adding glow to your skin and rejuvenating your skin, retaining the moisture levels. It can also be used to reduce skin irritability, swelling and rashes.

How to use: You could cut the cucumber into slices and place it on your face, making your skin feel refreshed and cool. Another way is you could take cucumber and mix it with a bit of yoghurt and make it into a paste. You could then apply this over your face and neck and wash it off within few minutes.

9. Carrot Juice

Why is it beneficial: It helps in improving eyesight, adding glow to your skin and maintaining the glow on your face. It is often referred to as an elixir for your body.

How to use: You could mix carrot juice with beetroot or orange juice and add a bit of inger to it for better taste. Drinking this regularly can prove to be very beneficial.

10. Saffron

Why is it beneficial: Rich in antioxidants, saffron is used to maintain the glow of the skin and helps in keeping the skin healthy.

How to use: You could mix saffron with a bit of honey and apply it over your face. Keep it for a few minutes and then wash it off. You could repeat this 3-4 times a week for better results.
