5 Tips to Plan a Honeymoon on Budget

Oh yes, the wedding is going to cost you a bomb. It won’t be long before you realise that you are now a pauper. And after those hectic months, you deserve a pampering holiday, hon. I know you want to have a dreamy, romantic honeymoon at an exotic location but that’s going to be a little costly. The tricky and expensive honeymoon planning is actually quite easy- only if you have a few tricks and tips up your sleeve like I do. Let me share some of my profound knowledge on budgeting and planning with you-

1. Pick an Affordable Location

Picking an affordable location is the best option when it comes to honeymoon. If possible, stick to domestic locations- as a matter of fact, India has some great honeymoon locations. If you wish to travel abroad, stick to cheaper alternatives like Bali, Thailand and many more.

2. Mini-moon

Incase you don’t have the time or funds to take a long vacation, opt for a mini-moon. A mini-moon is relaxing short vacation that has all the characteristics of a honeymoon.

3. Pick a Lesser Known Destination

Popular honeymoon destinations like Western Europe, Australia, etc will cost a b0mb. Instead, research for lesser known or offbeat honeymoon destinations. You’ll not be doing mundane things and be saving money at the same time!

4. Flight Booking

The airline fares nowadays can give anyone a fever! But there are a few tricks that will help you score the best price even when there is no fare sale. First and foremost, use websites like Skyscanner and Kayak to compare the fares shown on different websites. They are like Trivago but for flights. 

According to Kayak’s recent survey, Indians should  book their flights on Wednesdays at 8.30 am in order to save money. Of course, you should book at least 3 months in advance for international destinations and 1 month in advance for domestic destinations. Also, if you are travelling domestically, travel by train!

5. Travel Off-Season

If you are planning for a honeymoon around Diwali, Christmas or New-Year, be ready to loosen the purse strings. Holiday season isn’t budget friendly. It’s advisable to travel off-season like in the months of February and March. It also depends on the place you’re going to.
