6 Common Wedding Crises and How To Handle Them

6 Common Wedding Crises and How To Handle Them

Before you finally hang up your boots (or heels in this case!) on the D-Day and finally enjoy that glass of wine with the Mister, you may just have to tackle a few unpleasant circumstances to say the least. But we can make sure that you are not caught off-guard and are prepared to score a home run instead of strike out when the wayward ball comes your way. We have a list of some of the most common wedding crises that a couple faces during the wedding and the planning, and different ways to solve them! Don’t you just love us?

Hair & Makeup Gone Wrong

All the stress can lead to some last minute zits, so it’s best to stay prepared for it all. Some brides also develop allergic reactions to new makeup products or hair dye and let’s just say that the end result can be a little unsettling.

Tip: A great way to avoid this would be to get a makeup trial before the wedding. This will give you enough time to check for allergies and ace that bridal look. When you go for your bridal dress rehearsal, it would be a good idea to try out the makeup and hair-do to avid last minute changes. In case, you haven’t, it never hurts to pop a mild anti-allergic before the makeup. If you do get a zit, call your dermatologist or an expert makeup artist and with their tips and tricks, you will be able to hide it flawlessly if not vanish it completely.

Venue/Vendor Cancellation

Maybe the venue had last minute changes or your vendor fell sick, but a cancellation just before the wedding can be daunting.

Tip: If you have a wedding planner, he/she will make sure that your vendor confirms till the very last moment. If not, you can appoint someone to follow up with the venue and vendors at least twice a day and confirm the details. It’s also a good practice to have back-up options. Ask your service providers for alternative numbers in case they are sick or unavailable. You can also get references from family and friends and make a list of trustworthy vendors you can fall back on in case of emergencies! Also, shortlist a few other venues and farm houses in case your venue doesn’t work out. You can also ask other vendors to help you out with venues since they often collaborate with them!

Bad Weather

Whether it’s the rain or a storm, it’s best to be prepared for bad weather on the most special day of your life.

Tip: If you have booked an outdoor venue, talk to your venue manager and find out if there is a spacious indoor hall where you can accommodate your guests in case it starts raining. Always keep a few colourful umbrellas handy and easily accessible. They also make for cute photographs that you will cherish once the silver lining visible (literally!). Remember that you are getting married and what matters is you and your partner be happy about it – in rain or shine!

Running Late

Traffic, late vendors – there are so many things that can delay your event by an hour or two on the D-Day.

Tip: Always get a makeup artist and hair stylist who can come home and do your makeup. If not, at least choose places which are close by and not at the other end of the town. Always leave an hour early to be on the safe side! In spite of everything, if you do happen to be late, call up the person in charge at the venue and let him/her know about your schedule.

If you are serving alcohol at your wedding, there may be a few unpleasant situations where some guests may get a little too loud.

Tip: Make a checklist of people you think can get unruly after being drunk and assign one person to watch over them. You can also subtly tell your bar tender to water down the drinks after the first few, if they sense any trouble. If all else fails, simply ask an elder member to escort the guest to a hotel or changing room and put them to bed!

Fights With Fiance

With all the wedding planning stress, it’s quite common for couples to have frequent fights just before the wedding!

Tip: Men seem to be less involved in wedding planning and this seems to be a leading cause for fights. After all, their outfits are easier to choose and they seem to have everything under control. Do not mistake their calm demeanour as a lack of interest! Talk to your fiancé and tell exactly what you would want him to do to help you plan the wedding. Apart from the planning, take out time to go on dates and do other stuff and keep the romance alive!
