Nicolas & Prianka Phuket : Two days, two unique ceremonies – this wedding was truly exceptional!
Love is something that endures and still rises above. It’s easy to fall in love and be with someone when things go according to plan. But real love lies in the unplanned moments when all seems in chaos. It is about celebrating the good times and holding on to each other during the difficult moments.
About the Couple
This proposal was straight out of The Great Gambler, a popular Bollywood film of the 70s where Zeenat Aman serenades Amitabh Bachchan with a delightful song.
Nicolas proposed to Prianka on a gondola in Venice, Italy on May 18th, 2018 – very grand and romantic, isn’t he? Well, he is generally the one to orchestrate the grand gestures while Prianka does it through the small things.
How They Met
Books really do have a way of building up the perfect partner for you. It can be just that one character or 2-3 characters building ‘the one’ for you. When the right moment arrives, that person finally comes along. This holds true for Nicolas and Prianka. In 2012, their paths finally crossed at the Pavement Cafe on Gainsborough Street in Boston, Massachusetts. She was reading Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice when he came and sat down right next to her. It didn’t take her much time after that to realise she had found her Mr. Darcy.
The Wedding Planning
It was a team effort with Prianka and Nico taking decisions together with help from their parents and wedding planners. The ‘I DO ETC’ team really did most of the work. Nicolas and Prianka discussed their ideas with them and the team transformed it into something even more beautiful. The wedding planners basically advised all the vendors required for the wedding – hair and makeup, salon, decorators, florists, themes of the events – everything!
Welcome Party
The entire wedding extravaganza took place over 3 days – 27th, 28th and 29th June – at the JW Marriott in Mai Khao, Phuket. 27th night was the Welcome Party where family and friends from the bride’s and groom’s side mingled, danced, ate and participated in the merriment. The theme was ‘Havana Nights’ and a special dance performance was arranged for everyone’s entertainment.
Prianka wore a two-piece red satin outfit. She completed her look with chunky gold earrings and a flower crown. On the other hand, Nicolas looked dapper in a crisp, white shirt and beige pants.
DAY 1: Western Wedding & Reception
The bride and groom had a fun 27th morning where each of them had a special photo shoot with their entourage. As evening rolled around, they a beautiful Western wedding ceremony with the sun setting in the background. Prianka walked down the aisle in a Liz Martinez creation with baby breath adorning her braided hair. At the end of the aisle, standing under the arch decorated with white roses and baby breath was Nicolas, looking so handsome in a Tom Ford suit.
They celebrated their ‘I do’ moment with their friends and family at a super-fun Reception later than evening where they cut a stunning 4-tiered cake and took the stage for their official first dance.
DAY 2: Mehendi, Sangeet & Indian Wedding
Prianka is half-Indian and has always wanted an Indian wedding. While Nico considers their official wedding date as 28th, Prianka considers the Pheras on 29th as the official ceremony. All outfits for the bride and groom were from Sabyasachi’s collections. Starting from a sea green with golden thread work lehenga for Prianka and a white kurta-churidar set with a floral motif Nehru jacket for Nicolas for the Mehendi ceremony, a sindoor red bridal lehenga for Prianka and cream bandhgala sherwani with golden thread work for Nicolas for the Pheras to Prianka going for an aqua blue lehenga and Nicolas choosing a red quilted sherwani for the Sangeet.
