Passion and dedication are two qualities 23-year-old Minette Pereira swears by. And it is these very qualities that have propelled the youngster, a freelance hair and make-up specialist, into the spotlight. Minette’s initiation in the world of make-up and hair styling was her mother who is herself a professional hairdresser. “I was just 14 when I would accompany my mother to work. I loved how she would completely transform her clients and their resultant happiness. Helping my mother out in her work really inspired me. I just knew that I wanted to follow her footsteps and make a career for myself in this field,” she says. Her parents, however, envisioned other things for her. With the aim of securing their young girl’s future, they laid emphasis on academics. “Initially it was very difficult for me to convince them about wanting to make a career in the beauty industry. In time, however, seeing my passion and dedication to the trade and more importantly, the vast strides I had made, they warmed up. But studies still remained as important,” she explains
