Akshay & Ritika Delhi : Meet Ritika, a die hard SRK fan who proved her love story is no less than Bollywood’s!

An old school Bollywood love story makes every desi’s heart flutter and one such story is of Ritika and Akshay! Ritika and Akshay tied the knot in an alluring ceremony at The Taj Mahal Palace in Delhi. Their love story is nothing short of a rollercoaster drama and will instantly fill you with delight!

The Love Story..

Ritika and Akshay have a very quintessential love story. It all began along the lines of Hum Aapke Hai Kaun! Ritika first laid her eyes on Akshay at her brother’s wedding (who was getting married to Akshay’s cousin sister.) She developed a massive crush on him and over the years she realised it wasn’t infatuation, but true love! She confessed her undying love to Akshay 5 years after she met him and soon they began dating. Reminiscing, Ritika told us, “I’m quite the real life version of a Shah Rukh Khan film, I couldn’t hold it in and couldn’t wait to profess my love! And, being the biggest DDLJ fan, I even proposed with a miniature cowbell which I bought as a kid to someday give to my future ‘Raj’!” After years of long distance relationship, they finally got engaged in the city of love, Parish and tied the knot in Akshay’s hometown, Delhi!

The Wedding Festivities..

Ritika and Akshay’s wedding was a perfect blend of magic and true love. In fact, their hashtag was #AReasonToBelieve! They wanted their close  ones by their side throughout the celebrations. The entire vibe through each element was playful, romantic, and fresh. The lovebirds  got matching tattoos a couple of years ago which represented their infinite and boundless love, so they incorporated the design of the tattoo into each celebration- through floral backdrops, their invitations, the cones of rose petals, welcome letters, etc.
The Mehendi Ceremony..

The celebrations kicked off with a fun and vibrant mehendi ceremony. Genda phool decor, floral arches and colourful elements made their mehendi ceremony come alive. The bride was spotted in a lovely lime-yellow lehenga by Sabyasachi, a lehenga that reflected her bright, chirpy self! Akshay, on the other hand wore a maroon anarkali kurta and jacket. The dhol beats added to everybody’s fun and frolic! There was a dance off between the ladkiwalas and ladkewale where both families danced the afternoon away. Along with this, they also played phoolon ki holi on their mehendi day!

The Sangeet Ceremony..

Elegant enlish decor ruled the sangeet night. Ritika looked stunning in a maroon off shoulder gown while Akshay wore an asymmetrical bandhgala sherwani for the sangeet night! The romantic dance shared by the couple made all of us go “awww!”

The Wedding..

The day arrived when Ritika and Akshay would be tied together forever! Ritika’s floral Sabyasachi lehenga caught our attention and we had to ask her about her unique choice! She told us, “I still can’t believe this myself, but it literally took me 10 minutes to finalise my wedding lehenga! I always knew that Sabyasachi was the way to go, and I was so in love with the first lehenga I tried on – it was absolutely perfect for me and the vibe I was going for – romantic, classic and simple! I facetimed with my Mom and Bhabhi in London and with their approval I ordered it then and there! I also didn’t let Akshay get a glimpse of my lehenga because I wanted to surprise him on the day of the wedding!”
