An A-to-Z guide to plan an Eco-friendly Wedding!

An A-to-Z guide to plan an Eco-friendly Wedding!

When a to-be-married couple thinks about having an eco-friendly wedding, the thought itself at first seems like a daunting task. For starters, your family may start worrying about how they should actually start planning for something like this. This is followed by innumerable questions that may pop up inside your head and probably their head as well- Will this planning process turn out to be a cumbersome one? Will it be cheaper or turn out to be costlier to a conventional wedding? Will the eco-friendly theme cut down on the level of elaborateness of the entire affair?

And perhaps many many many more…

My advice is, drop your apprehensions and just go for it!!

This is your chance to do your bit for your environment by reducing the amount of excess and unnecessary waste generated at weddings in a simplified manner, without hassles and without having to go the extra mile. If not anything else, you could get really cool instagrammable pictures and your wedding will definitely be the talk of the town for your efforts! (wink wink)

Here is an A-Z guide to organizing an eco-friendly wedding and doing your bit for the environment, while still making your wedding a beautiful affair:

1.Wedding signage

Wedding signages need not be an elaborate affair as such, afterall it is just an indication for the guests as to where the wedding venue is. It can be made more beautiful and welcoming, like the picture above-gorgeous coloured flowers, brass pots, candles and a simple brown paper signage.

2. Mandap backdrop

A simple, yet pretty and 100% eco-friendly mandap backdrop like this one, is an inspiration for those who are wondering if their wedding mandap won’t be as elaborate and grand if they opt out to go green. Beautiful yellow flowers, against a dark green backdrop is refreshing and gorgeous!

3. Wedding decoration

This decoration has taken innovation and creativity to a whole new level!

A decoration without using cloth, plastic or any other material, which still manages to look this good is no mean feat.

Pillars made out of coconut leaves, bright coloured flowers, creative carvings out of bamboo and a parrot made out of leaves- all this looks so subtle, yet swell!

4. Ceiling decoration

What’s better than a ceiling made out of coconut leaves and roses? It is sure to set the mood especially during a monsoon wedding!

Did you ever imagine origami decor would be so enticing?

This theme with gypso balls denoting clouds and birds made out of coloured recycled paper is a fun, eco-friendly and vibrant option for a mehendi or haldi function.

Stick to the basics and you will be appalled as to how beautiful your wedding decor can turn out to be.

This decor has nothing but strands of leaves and genda phools hanging from the top. Like it?

Want to try out a decor idea which is eco-friendly yet attractive?

We loooove this idea of reusable cane baskets turned upside down! This is cost effective and super environment-friendly.

5. Table centerpieces

A rustic idea to break the monotony and add to the decor!

These glass vases with small plants, placed on a wooden slab can lift the entire vibe of the wedding and make your decor look a level better, if done right! They make the otherwise dull and boring tables look more fancy.

And, yes!! This idea is so natural and appealing!

6. Table number

Who needs something fancy when you have a brilliant eco-friendly option like this one- wood, flowers and reusable paper!

7. Wedding invites

Using reusable paper for these minimalistic wedding invites is a great idea to go green!

This authentic idea of wedding invites on banana leaves is also something we looooved!

8. Wedding favours

A simple pack of seeds for your guests to join you in playing their part towards a greener environment!

This is a woven favour box which is decorated with a foam plumeria, which won’t decay or wilt and real starfish, which is also an environment-friendly option.

This is something which can make your wedding stand out on a whole new level! Keep some exotic plants on display and make your guests more aware of the environment.

9. Confetti

Instead of sparkles, glitter and other material to shower the newlyweds with, dried flowers used as confetti is a perfect option!!

10. Cutlery and crockery

Wooden cutlery- A pretty good, eco-friendly option!

Ditching plastic plates, saves the extra expenditure on washing them and also in turn saves the wastage of water. Banana leaves as plates is a hygienic and cost-effective way of ensuring your weddings are eco-friendly!

Quench your thirst by having your favourite drink in these coconut shells! A brilliant zero-wastage option to contribute to the environment.

Are you ready to Go Green on your D-day?
