Love knows no age, caste or faith. When cupid decides to bring two hearts together, it is their rhythm that matters most and not much else. And this is absolutely true for this couple – Swapnil & Mahek.
Swapnil and Mahek first met at work – they were in the same team in an online travel company in Gurgaon. While they were friends with their teammates, it will a little more than friendship that they felt towards each other. Their bond was special and they both accepted that there was something more. However, in due course of time, Swapnil relocated to Dubai to pursue his career aspirations. At the same time, Mahek continued to work in Gurgaon. They both knew what they had was special but Swapnil wished to settle in Dubai and so far, they had not made any commitments to each other.
But destiny had other plans. Swapnil and Mahek couldn’t stay apart and there began an international, long-distance love story! In fact, soon their passports were full of immigration stamps! One year down the line, Swapnil proposed Mahek, and she said ‘YES’. It might sound like an easy road, but it wasn’t. You will wonder why? Because Mahek Akhtar & Swapnil Srivastava belonged to very different religions and different cultures. They had a tough task ahead of them to convince their families, their friends and the whole society. Why? Because theirs was an inter-faith match. It took a whole year of a convincing, but finally, everyone agreed.
The Wedding
As they say, its all well that ends well, isn’t it? The wedding festivities took off on a grand note in Lucknow with families and friends coming together for the couple from both sides. It was hosted at the Ornate Banquets, Lucknow.
Looking at the wedding videos or photos, it would look like a regular India Marriage, but it wasn’t. It overcame so many barriers- Country, Faith and Workplace Relationships to name a few. But love triumphed all.
As it was an inter-faith match, the couple hosted a fun engagement cum sangeet ceremony and followed it up by a grand reception. They had a civil ceremony instead of a Nikah or Hindu pheras.
For the engagement, Mahek looked stunning in her heavily embroidered mint green lehenga. She let her hair down literally and completed her look with subtle makeup and diamond chandelier earrings.
For the reception and civil ceremony, she looked every bit the gorgeous bride in a tomato pink-red bridal lehenga and wore polki jewellery with emerald drops to complete her look. Swapnil wore a black bandhgala with an embroidered shawl to match his regal bride.
