MANISH MALHOTRA

Bollywood’s favourite certainly lived up to his name. His winter/festive collection is all about Indian craftsmanship fused perfectly with contemporary silhouettes. The garments had Malhotra’s signature resham threadwork, sequins and detailed hand embroidery. The jacket sarees, crop blouses and sheer capes added a modern touch to the traditional bridal lehenga choli collection. Floral motifs were used to amp up the contemporary factor.

ANUSHREE REDDY

Anushree Reddy’s collection, titled ‘Wedding Chronicle’ comprised of florals, zardozi embroidery and a lot of pastels. The bridal lehenga collection included flared, comfy silhouettes along with off-shoulder blouses that added a western touch to the Indian bridal lehenga choli. The pastel colour palette was mixed to perfection along with just the right amount of embroidery to ensure that it did indeed, look wedding-worthy.

PAYAL KHANDWALA

Payal Khandwala introduced a collection called ‘The New Emperor’ and rightfully, the lion motifs and the brocades in strong metallic accents did justice to this. Furthermore, the textiles were hand-woven Banarasi weaves and used gold thread to illuminate the deep jewel-toned colour palette. The range, being all about a woman as a monarch, also incorporated power dressing such as fusing Indian bridal lehenga silhouettes with jackets, cuffs and collars. All in all, it truly was a collection fit for royalty.

PAYAL SINGHAL

Payal Singhal’s ‘Pakizah’, as true to its name, was all about the beauty in pure, unadulterated design. It featured clean, minimalistic cuts in organic fabrics like silk, raw silk and mul. The silhouettes were a fusion of traditional and contemporary styles with off-shoulder cholis, cold-shoulder kurtas and scalloped hemlines. In a colour palette of pale pink, dusk blue, sand, grey and black, the organic fabrics were adorned with nature inspired motifs and mukaish work. Made for a modern and contemporary bride, the bridal lehenga range was timeless and elegant.

RIDHI MEHRA

Ridhi Mehra’s ‘Arcadia’ took inspiration from vintage garden elements. The designer played with crepe, georgette, silk and net, giving a very feminine and flowy aura to this ethereal bridal wear collection. The colour palette was imbibed with warm Indian tones. Using bridal lehenga with cropped capes, anarkali suits, plunging necklines and sheer fabrics with embroidery, the collection did indeed come alive magically.

SHANTANU AND NIKHIL

What caught our eye in Shantanu and Nikhil’s fashion show was the sherwani collection for grooms than womenswear. The collection featured a strong, military aesthetic and paid homage to our country’s freedom fighters. The silhouettes were not only utilitarian but also had an air of grandeur that we feel would work perfectly as a regal groomswear look.

SVA BY SONAM AND PARAS MODI

This collection was all about blending French street art with ethnic beauty and elegance. Inspired from the ancestral art of French neighbourhood Montparnasse, the garments were all crafted in shades of beige, wine, black and dark hues of blue and green. Elaborate drapes, metallic brocades and cut out elements all added emphasis to the sophistication of French cum Indian creations.

SABYASACHI

As rich, regal and opulent as his collections usually are, this one, termed ‘Illuminate’ was just as breath-taking. Comprising of deep reds, golds, blues, greens and blacks, all in hand-embroidered ensembles, the garments made use of light sheer and glitter to balance out the richness of the velvets. Zardozi, Parsi work, Baroque crystals, Kashmiri tilla work and faux fur are some of the elements that dominated this resplendent collection.
His sherwani collection for grooms was just as stunning as his bridal lehenga and sarees range. The trade-mark bandh-galas, rich silk sherwanis and floral prints certainly made a statement on the ramp.
