Our Exclusive Picks from Ritu Kumar for the bride & her sister! #WzPicks!

Our Exclusive Picks from Ritu Kumar for the bride & her sister! #WzPicks!

The wedding season is on full swing and we can only imagine the stress a bride-to-be might be to pick her wedding lehenga. Well if you’re confused about the same too, then like always, we’ve got your back.

We recently went bridal-wear shopping at Ritu Kumar’s flagship store in Delhi, and hand-picked some really stunning designs for a bride-to-be and her sister! It goes without saying that we were spellbound by the collection at the store.

So, buckle up as we bring to you Weddingz.in exclusive picks for your sangeet, wedding and reception from none other than the ace designer – Ritu Kumar! It was shot by one of Delhi’s top photographers Gautam Khullar while the makeup was done by – Akanksha Soni!

Why Ritu Kumar:

Brides usually opt for more classic silhouettes, so as to not look too outlandish on their wedding. The right outfit is supposed to be the perfect blend of the designer’s signature style with traditional detailing, and that’s exactly what Ritu Kumar’s designs bring to the table. Truly an ambassador of ethnic Indian style, her designs give a new meaning to traditional craftsmanship in a contemporary frame.

 Our pick for Sangeet:

For the bride:

For the Sangeet function, we picked this peach and gold color lehenga-choli crafted from the net fabric. We totally loved the combination of hand and machine embroidery all over, with the sheer dupatta bringing the much needed dramatic effect.

For the bride:

A sangeet night look, should let a bride breathe and shake a leg while at it. So we decided to opt for light weight jewellery. The bride is spotted wearing a multi-chained diamond necklace and earring set with Emeralds in it, a maang tikka and a statement haath-phool from Tanishq.

We loved how her makeup was so in sync with the whole look, done by the very efficient Akanksha Soni. It comprised of smokey eyes, prominent brows, nude lips, a hint of peach on the cheeks and dramatic curls for the hair.

For the bride:

For the sister:

For the bride’s sister we picked this stunning anarkali kurta set in pastel pink color, paired with a gorgeous gold embellished net dupatta. We loved the simple and elegant combination of gold colored machine and hand embroidery on the ensemble.

For the bride:

We simply loved the way these two bonded over bridal shopping. Check out all the fun moments captured by Gautam Khullar –

Because your sister will always help you with your lehenga!

For the reception:

For the bride:

For the reception we chose this gorgeous satin silk lehenga-choli set which has an exquisite hand embroidered zardozi work on it. The royal turquoise and sea green color palette of the outfit, makes it a perfect choice for the reception.

For the bride:

A reception look needs to be a little more jazzy and thus we opted for dramatic smokey eyes, nude lips and curled hair. She’s spotted wearing gold jewellery in contrast with the lehenga, keeping all attention on the bride herself.

For the sister:

For the sister, we were looking for something apart from lehengas and saree, something more quirky which went well with her bubbly nature.

That’s when the magic happened – we spotted this kurta and churidar paired with a cape. Set in indigo and ochre yellow, it’s made from silk taffeta, this ensemble makes it a great choice for anyone who is looking to wear something offbeat for the reception.

Bridal lehengas hold a special place for any bride-to-be! There will be no day bigger than the D-day itself. So, the bridal lehenga has to do complete justice to your big day.

Keeping this in mind, we picked this traditional lehenga and dupatta in red and saffron colour palette paired with a beige blouse. Inspired form the woven fabrics of banaras, this lehenga features a very heavy zardozi hand embroidery making it perfect for your D-day!

For her make-up we opted for golden and black kohl eyes, perfectly contoured cheeks, a pop of colour on the lips and side partitioned bun for the hair by Akanksha Soni.
