South-Indian Kanjeevaram sarees are known for their weaves, ethnic patterns and their sheer beauty. Inspired by the culture, traditions and life of southern india, Ashima Leena takes us on her journey with this bridal collection of sarees. Gorgeous appliques featuring temple motifs, intricately embroidered rich silks, and hand-embroidered jeweled motifs with borders that add a tinge of elegance – this collection was the epitome of south-Indian bridal wear. Her collection wasn’t confined to sarees, but also broadened its horizons to lehengas and anarkalis too. Ashima Leena experimented with patterns and lengths, and took all of the focus off the saree, making the blouse, necklines and borders also the highlight of her creations. Her use of woven south silk along with French net and organza, a sight we’ve never seen before and fell completely in love with it! Each of her creations were crafted for the contemporary Indian bride who is made of elegance, style with a dash of conventional design.
