Keerat & Sweta Chandigarh : A Delightful Cross Culture Wedding held in Chandigarh
"Find someone who makes you laugh, allows you to be silly & be yourself, loves you when you're at your best but loves you more when you're not, kisses or touches you for no reason, looks at you in a way only you know what they're thinking and communicates with you in a way that you are never afraid to share yourself." – Michelle Morse
The Wedding Festivities
Coming from two different cultures, Sweta and Keerat found themselves at crossroads. But they decided to honour both their cultures. They hosted a Sikh wedding in a Gurdwara and also a traditional Oriya wedding – both in Chandigarh.
The Engagement
The wedding festivities kicked off with an engagement ceremony. The catch was that the bride entered under a phoolon ki chadar and the couple even exchanged jaimalas! Dressed in pretty pastel lehenga, Sweta made for a pretty bride. Her groom looked like a suave gentleman in a three-piece suit. The family and friends were seen dancing and enjoying themselves.
The Mehendi
The couple chose a poolside venue for their mehendi ceremony. The bright yellow and orange genda phool decor added to the delightful function. Sweta chose a mustard yellow skirt and paired it with a white peplum top. Her yellow Benarasi kurta was surely the winner! Keerat complemented her in a white kurta and churidar. He completed his look with a grey Benarasi jacket.
The Wedding
Sweta and Keerat tied the knot in both Sikh and Oriya way. A traditional ceremony was held in the gurdwara in the morning followed by an Oriya ceremony at night. The bride looked stunning in a fuschia pink lehenga and she later changed into a yellow outfit for the night. Keerat wore an ivory sherwani. He changed into cream sherwani and red Patiala for the night.
