Aditya & Karen Mumbai : A Romantic Journey of Karen And Aditya, From Being Best Friends To Being Soul Mates
Sometimes we don’t need an affluent wedding planner to decide what to do, what not do on our wedding day. There are no better people that we can trust, than the ones that are already there in our life. Karen and Aditya’s wedding was highly personalized, with every element and aspect that was creatively and emotionally managed by various people within their life.
They met in St.Xavier’s College in Mumbai and have known each other for last 9 years. After scavenging hard for the wedding venue from Goa to Mumbai, they settled with a quaint, rustic and a heritage Church in Borivali’s IC Colony. Karen says that, ‘You are considered as lucky if you get St. Francis D’Assisi to exchange vows, because not many people manage to get this church for the wedding’. The entire wedding had a very interesting theme of mint and gold present everywhere. Karen wore a customized mermaid type gown made by Flavia Pereira- Her childhood friend’s mother. It took 17 long days, just to make the upper half of the gown, but the end result was very rewarding. The whole outfit had intricate detailing with Aditya’s name written vertically by beads on the veil. Even Aditya’s three piece suit was as per the theme and was designed by a best friend.
At the church, Karen wore a simple make-up which was done by her mom and adorned minimal yet appealing jewellery. She wore her grandma’s ring as something old, her wedding gown was something new, and she borrowed her best friend’s ear rings, hence completing the rhyme. During the mass, even before the priest uttered, Aditya leaned in forward to kiss Karen, only to realize that wasn’t actually the- You may now kiss the bride moment.
Post their wedding they held an elegant reception at Green Village Resort in Marve. On her way to the reception, couple’s chocolate vintage car broke down. But it didn’t harm their spirit as they still made it to the wedding venue. Coincidently, Karen travelled in the same vintage car to the reception that she watched growing up in Mahim. At the reception, the drapes gave a canopy type effect with buntings of mint and gold lanterns that added a Halloween type feel to the night. Walter, a childhood friend of the couple raised a toast speaking about his love and memories for the duo. The couple swayed into each other’s arm on Bob Marley’s- Is this love, their First Dance. The four-tier compliment-the-theme-cake was baked by Simone Rodricks, Karen’s best friend who came down from Goa for the wedding. Everyone rejoiced clicking selfies in a makeshift photobooth that was made by Iona Rodrigues, another close friend of the couple.
