Sabyasachi LFW W/F 2016: This Season’s Top Bridal Fashion All in One Place!
This season’s concluding show at Lakme Fashion Week was simply spectacular. Once again, bridal fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee stunned us all with his gloriously regal bridal wear collection christened ‘Illuminate’. The range remained true to his fabulous signature style and was all about deep tones, rich fabrics and heavy embellishments.
He used a vast range of silhouettes and styles, ranging right from his usual lehengas, floor-length jackets and sarees to even short dresses and cropped dhoti pants with crop tops. Comprising of deep reds, golds, blues, greens and blacks, all in hand-embroidered ensembles, the garments made use of light sheer and glitter to balance out the richness of the luxurious velvets and silks. Zardozi, Parsi work, Baroque crystals, Kashmiri tilla work and faux fur are some of the elements that dominated this collection, bringing it resplendently alive.
The stage and ambience went right along with the regality of the opulent collection. Heavy chandeliers and red curtains were used to add to the grandeur while live violinists serenaded the scene as the ravishing models gracefully sashayed down the ramp.
The make-up by Donald Simrock, further added to the royal beauty witnessed at the event. Perfectly interpreting the picturesque, romantic mood, he used hints of burgundy and gold while going for a nude lip and non-accentuated cheekbones. The result justified the trademark, timeless Sabyasachi bride.
His sherwani collection for grooms was just as stunning as his bridal lehenga and sarees range. The trade-mark bandh-galas, silk sherwanis in muted tones and floral prints certainly made a statement on the ramp.
The event ended with Kareena Kapoor, who was a stunning show stopper, walking down the runway, flaunting her baby bump in an olive green sequin-embellished kurti-lehenga that simply screamed exquisite. The lovely piece used gold threadwork in intricate Mughal designs and a matching dupatta.
The collection was a perfect blend of Indian baroque, keeping in mind the tradition and ethnicity with incorporating select silhouettes from the west. All in all, it was a magnificent collection where all the regal air of Indian history abounded.
So brides-to-be, don’t miss out on these fabulous pictures for a visual treat as well as some bridal fashion inspo for your pre-wedding shoot, mehndi, sangeet and of course, the shaadi!
