Neev & Tanya Mumbai : When an arranged marriage meeting turned into a love match for the couple!

Neev & Tanya Mumbai : When an arranged marriage meeting turned into a love match for the couple!

“Teri kismat da likhya tere to koi kho nai sakda. Je, us di meher, hove te tenu o vi mil jae jo tera ho nai sakda” – Guru Granth Sahib

What’s meant for you will find its way to you. This story is something similar. Let’s meet Tanya and Neev and see how they paved their path to love!

The First Meeting

Cupid struck Neev the moment he saw Tanya! He knew she was the one for him. They met in 2017 at Neev’s uncle and aunt’s anniversary dinner where he saw her for the first time. But Neev didn’t want to make it obvious that he had fallen for Tanya already; hence, he ended up not talking to her at all! Neev was focused on his ways to make a place in Tanya’s heart. He managed to convince her and one of her cousins to crash a wedding that he was attending. From there on things instantly improved and something clicked between the duo.

The Proposal

They dated each other for a year and knew that they were meant to be together! However, the journey to getting married took three years. Because in India, marriage is not just two individuals getting married, it’s a harmony of two families. So during this time, the families formally caught up and got to know each other better. Neev and Tanya were counting days to the much-awaited wedding, but they made sure they didn’t miss small milestones celebrating their relationship in the meanwhile.

One day Tanya stopped by at Neev’s place for what she thought would be a normal catch up. Little did she know that a beautiful surprise awaited her! Neev was cooking dinner in the kitchen, he had kept a handwritten letter in front of Tanya where she was seated. And just as he thought Tanya noticed the letter, it was signed off with “So Tanya…” Her eyes brimmed with tears as she read the letter. She went into the kitchen to look for Neev. ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off You’ by Frankie Valli was playing in the background, and just then, he romantically held out a ring.

The In-between Story

A mix of close-knit and grand affairs, the couple struck the balance between intimacy and luxury perfectly. They had just about six months to plan the wedding and they took this challenge gracefully. Neev had most of his friends and family in Singapore and the UK, so he always was in favour of a beach wedding. On the other hand, Tanya always wanted a grand wedding in Mumbai. She managed to get her way around this and they decided to get married in Mumbai.

The beautiful décor for their D-day was managed by Afreen Wedding Services. The all-time hit rocking “Ishq tera tadpave” fame Sukhbir and DJ AJ made special appearances keeping the spirits of the guests high. For photography, they chose one of the best, Naman Verma Photography. His artistic skill and eternal frames captured the special moments of the big day elegantly.

The Wedding Functions

Roka Ceremony

This was held at Tanya’s humble abode, perfectly done with beautiful marigold and shining lights. While this was a close-knit affair, the engagement at Trident Hotel Mumbai was a fancy one. Tanya wore a beautiful pistachio hued Sabyasachi sharara, while Neev wore a peach-pink toned kurta.

Anand Karaj

A dignified ceremony, the Anand Karaj was full of emotions for Tanya. She was beginning a new chapter in her life. Like any other girl, she was overwhelmed with emotions. Her eyes shimmered with tears as she hugged her family and the very next moment she stepped into her new life. She looked very graceful in the nude Chikankari Anarkali, accessorised by maang tikka along with ruby diamond earrings. Neev complemented his bride perfectly in a pastel pink chikankari kurta with churidar.

Mehendi

Like in a proper Punjabi household, her ceremony began with Dholki and the ladies in the house, her aunts and grandmother sang traditional wedding songs. This affair was again hosted at Tanya’s residence. Tanya looked ecstatic in her spearmint coloured outfit which was revamped into a stunning lehenga from a brocade sari by designer Kshitij Jalori. The rose-coloured dupatta perfectly uplifted the look of the entire outfit. Neev decided to twin with her and chose a kurta in the same hue.

The décor was tastefully done with multi-coloured flowers and a shimmery backdrop. Tanya beamed with happiness and loved the pampering she received from her pals while getting the mehndi done. She also posed with the entire squad for some cool pictures.

Sangeet

Everyone loves Punjabi music, right? This was the ceremony where both bride and groom let loose and showed some amazing dance moves. Then entered the well-known music artist Sukhbir with five dholwalas the entire crowd in the hall instantly had electrifying energy. Through the night, Dj AJ kept up the energy of the party and spirits of the people high until the wee hours.

Tanya wore a pinkish hued waterfall lehenga which had embellishments. This was perfect to make her comfortable to groove and match Neev with his Bhangra steps. Neev also picked something edgy and wore a midnight blue sherwani with dimensional thread work.

The Wedding

Finally, the big day arrived, and it was held at The Taj Mahal Palace’s Alfresco area. The couple’s vision of a modern mandap came true in the mirrored dome structure. It was elegantly decorated with flowers like peonies, ranunculus, hydrangeas etc that came all the way from Europe to make their day special.

Tanya chose Anamika Khanna creation in a pink hue with delicate embroidery and sophisticated zardozi work. Neev looked stylish in a Rajesh Pratap Singh sherwani made of handloom linen silk with fine gold zari embroidery all over.

The event concluded with an after-party at the Crystal Room in the same venue which had some emotional moments and heartfelt speeches from the families of the couple.
