Viraj & Gopika Delhi : An Elegant Delhi Wedding Inspired by the Floral Blooms

When Gopika walked down the aisle towards the love of her life, her maasi sang a song written by her, she knew her perfect fairytale was complete. Gopika and Viraj’s wedding, a floral paradise, was planned to perfection by her two maasis. 

About the Couple

Borrowing a line from F. Scott Fitzgerald, Viraj describes Gopika as her ‘everything’. He says, “She’s the beginning of everything..” and adds, “she’s the big bang of my existence, quite overwhelming, indomitable, a touch scary at times, I’m incomplete without her.” It’s so heartwarming to see a man in this day and age use F. Scott Fitzgerald to describe his lady love! Gopika on the other hand refers to Viraj as her ‘soulmate’.

The Wedding Festivities

Gopika wanted a fairytale wedding. “I wanted it to be magical, beautiful, peachy.” she says. And so it was!

The Mehendi Ceremony

For the mehendi, Gopika wore a purple lehenga while her dapper partner turned up, slightly late and hungover, in kurta and an orange Nehru jacket. 

The Wedding Ceremony

For the wedding the couple choose outfits that reflected on their image of a perfect wedding: regal, but not garish. Viraj wore an intricately printed ivory Sherwani. The kalgi on his salmon pink Banarasi silk safa and a golden brooch completed his royal attire. Gopika chose a double-shaded velvet lehenga that progressed subtly from shades of lavender/pink to wine. She wore heirloom jewellery- her grandmother’s resplendent kundan set.

Gopika’s maasi wrote, composed and sang the jaimala song for her beloved Gopika. She walked down the aisle next to  her twin brother who held a satin umbrella above her. A 14ft long peach train was attached to the umbrella which was held by the bridesmaids. The decor was in shades of peach and white and was nothing short of a floral paradise.
