Scalloped Edging or Borders – A New Twist to Indian Bridal Wedding Dresses
In 2013, when Anushree Reddy launched her Lakme Fashion Week wedding bridal wear collection, consisting of pretty florals and contemporary cuts, the world of bridal wedding dresses was gifted with the oh-so-drool worthy ‘scalloped edging trend’! From broad laces on dupattas to 3D finished cut sarees, scalloped borders were everything that we could see.
Later in 2014 and 2015, Anushree Reddy recreated magic with pink hues, contemporary cuts and modern florals. Can you guess what stayed constant in these designs? YES, scallops!
Then 2016 witnessed not just Anushree Reddy, but other ace designers like Jayanti Reddy and Sabyasachi showcasing different versions of scalloped edging design in broad hem cuts and embroidery.
That’s when it became official! Scallops were going to rule bridal wear trends for some time to come. So if you need to add texture and are looking for unique alternatives to straight cut designed hems and borders, scalloped edging is your best bet.
