Sriram & Lalita Mumbai : A Terrific Tamil Marriage Ceremony

Sriram & Lalita Mumbai : A Terrific Tamil Marriage Ceremony

Sriram pretends that he doesn’t want to get married to Lalita and heads over to Kashi with just a cane stick and few essentials. Lalita’s father tries to stop him from going to the holy city and interests him by offering her daughter’s hand. After convincing the groom, he is escorted to the mandap with an umbrella held by the bride’s father over his head. Well that’s how a traditional Tamilian wedding begins, with a little drama and an age-old ritual.

Lallita and Sriram special day was held at Tamil Sangham Hall, Sion in Mumbai. Seated on a wooden cradle the couple’s feet was washed in a dish by their family members. Sriram was dressed in a traditional lungi and had the signature Tamilian tika all over his body. Lalita had a Kanjivaram saree on with a matching mathapatti and jhumkas. Orange and yellow marigold flowers surrounded the vedi mandap with red mattresses kept on the floor for the family, priests and the couple. During the reception the groom suited up with a maroon shirt and a charcoal grey jacket while the bride chose a multi tone Knajivaram saree.

Let’s have a look at this unique wedding…
