7 Real Brides who shattered the stereotypes and won us over!

7 Real Brides who shattered the stereotypes and won us over!

Stereotypes are a lot like glass ceilings. Sturdy and tough to look at but it can easily be broken by a push. Every element of our lives is surrounded by stereotypes. Like it or not, weddings and brides are their biggest markets. Brides are supposed to be shy, adhere to societal standards of beauty and even be sarvagun sampanna! Brides who say “screw you” to the society and set their own paths have a special place in my heart. I came across 7 such brides who wrote their own ‘happily ever after’ fairytale!

1. Penny

According to photographers Fotowalle, Penny is an absolute rockstar and we can’t help but agree with them! After her makeup and hair were done, she casually walked out, astride a ghodi  and proceeded with her own baraat! A very few brides do this!

2. Navi Indran Pillai

Navi, a cancer survivor chose not to wear a wig and be herself at her wedding. Hugs and love to you, woman! You can read more about her wedding here.

3. Bengali Bride

I don’t know her name, but this Bengali bride is a total boss! During her vidaai, she refused to perform a custom called kanakanjali, which signifies paying back to her parents. She promptly said, “One can never repay their debts to their parents.” Ah, pearls of wisdom!

Actress Tanaya Gupta did something totally unexpected- she went to a nightclub in her lehenga! Yes, you read that right! She went to a club right after her pheras and had the time of her life with her loved ones!

5. Lalita Ben Bansi

Lalita Ben Bansi, an acid attack survivor found love and got a chance to live her happily ever after with a man who loves her for what she truly is! She did not shy away from breaking stereotypes regarding bridal beauties!

6. Avantika Singh

Avantika wore no makeup at her wedding! She asked her friends to apply eyeliner and lipgloss for her. That’s the only 2 things she had on her face! Her skin is so clear and clean that she refused to wear layers of makeup. She doesn’t believe in harming her skin with chemicals and maintains a healthy diet for the same!

7. Diipa Khosla

Global blogger Diipa Khosla made her husband touch her feet during one of the ceremonies! Let me clarify, she did so only because she was asked to touch his feet. A firm believer in equality, she made her husband do the same!

Kudos to these brides who didn’t pay any attention to the society!
