Saurav & Kanika Dubai : When a solid friendship turns into an everlasting bond of marriage!

Introduced to each other by their respective families, Kanika and Saurav’s love story is a refreshing take on this quote. These friends turned lovers and eventually, life partners story is a fascinating one! They both were told about each other by their folks at home but at the time when they weren’t keen on getting married. However, acknowledging their family’s efforts, they both got chatting on Instagram! This was the start of their journey of getting to know each other. A few memorable travel trips, followed by meeting each other’s friends, spending time together and getting to know the other, all this over an approximate span of two years, they decided to take the plunge finally!

To hear it in her own words, Kanika says, “It has been a roller coaster ride so far. The best part about our marriage is that we never thought of each other as husband and wife (those formalities, that extra we do for our spouses) we always behaved like best of friends which we still are and will always be :). We both think that’s the key for a long term relationship. Saurav and I share common interests like travelling, food, and he always takes an interest in my work.”

With such a strong friendship as their foundation, no wonder Kanika and Saurav ended up as life partners!

The Proposal

Theirs was the most dreamy proposal in one of the most happening destinations in India. One can only imagine the sight it must have been to watch these two lovers commit a lifetime of togetherness amidst the picturesque setting of Goa’s sunset beach! Kanika recounts, “I was in Goa with my friends. Saurav decided to propose to me there as Goa is our favourite destination. He came to Goa and planned a surprise at the beach. I was lovestruck seeing the setup at the beach. It was indeed a fairy tale proposal.”

The Pre-Wedding

The journey to Kanika and Saurav’s big day kickstarted with a roka or engagement ceremony held in Aerocity, Delhi. The theme for this indoor function was floral-pastel. It had a very romantic vibe with soft hues, delicate lighting and plenty of florals. Next in line was the sagan ceremony. This was held at Orana Resorts and Hotel, New Delhi. It was all about glitters and glam. The space resembled a nightclub, just how the couple wanted it. LED screens and sharp lights were added to the decor to notch the glamour quotient up!

The Wedding

The finale to their fairytale romance and filmy proposal deserved nothing but the very best! Living it up to their story, Kanika and Saurav had the most extraordinary destination wedding in one of the most exquisite and exotic properties in the world- Fairmont Ajman. Holding court along the prime beachfront address and enveloped by the pristine white sandy beaches and turquoise waters of the Arabian Gulf, Fairmont Ajman offers the perfect backdrop for creating lifetime memories on your special day. Their three-day gala was an ideal fusion of refreshing beachside vibes and fun-loving Punjabis adding their hardcore zesty zeal to the functions.

Fairmont Ajman is a beautiful-beach facing property with aesthetically designed venues for ringing in all the traditions and functions. What better place than this to fulfil your destination beach wedding dream! Kanika and Saurav’s wedding festivities were a perfect mix of cultural and contemporary essences. The mehendi ceremony was both indoor and outdoor. Arabic theme was set up indoors with sheesha, multihued drapes in subtle hues of pink, ivory and orange looked beyond beautiful! Henna designs by Arabic mehendi artists was a spectacle to see. As for the haldi, the theme was vibrant and cheerful with sea-facing views and guests donning colourful dupattas. On the groom’s side, everyone wore yellow outfits, and on the bride’s side, everyone wore pink. And all bridesmaids wore pink sarees! Punjabis dancing their heart out to the dhol was the highlight of the event!

The cocktail theme was very modern and hip with golden yellow lights, crystal embellishments, assorted flower decor, lanterns and LED screens in the grand ballroom. They ditched the formal stage setting so that all can enjoy and groove to their heart’s content. Come D-Day; the beach was decked in hues of rose gold. The decor was quite subtle to blend the beauty of the natural landscape. Soft and sublime colours merged pretty well together, giving an elegant and cohesive look to the wedding. The marital couple opted for colour coordinated outfits in rose gold. While the groom settled for a bespoke sherwani from Diwan Saheb, the bride looked a million bucks in an Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla lehenga!
